It's a Boy! 10 Fun Children's Book Themes for Your Baby Shower (Photos)

Word has it that Jessica Simpson will soon be the guest of honor at her second baby shower in two years. Life & Style Weekly reports that mom Tina and sister Ashlee are hosting a party for around 50 guests in honor of Jess and the baby boy she’s expecting in a couple of months.

When the actress was pregnant with daughter Maxwell, celeb party planner Mindy Weiss helped arrange a shower with a Charlotte’s Web theme – a lovely way to pay tribute to the classic story of friendship. Will the latest party be centered on a children’s book, too? We sure hope so! There are plenty of titles out there that are not only popular with boys, but that also lend themselves to fun party ideas.

We came up with 10 of the best books for a boy baby shower theme. Keep them in mind the next time you’re throwing a party for a mom-to-be – or celebrating the birthday of the special boy in your life!

  • Winnie-the-Pooh 2 of 11
Even a Bear of Very Little Brain knows that a shower featuring the beloved Hundred Acre Wood friends is sure to be a hit. If the mom-to-be has a Pooh-themed nursery, so much the better. Decorate the room in a teddy-bear motif and offer small bears as party favors. What to serve? Honey cake, of course!

Not only is this board book a classic kid-pleaser, it also makes a fun baby boy shower theme, as any mom who's seen her fridge emptying during a growth spurt can tell you. Caterpillars, flowers and butterflies can dominate the decor. As for food? Take your cue from the Caterpillar himself, who noshes his way through everything from apples and pears to ice cream and chocolate cake!
