Jamie Lee Curtis Opens Up After Father's Death: He Was Not A FatherVictoria
After legendary actor Tony Curtis passed away last month, his daughter, actress Jamie Lee Curtis, opens up about the relationship that she had with her celebrity father. In a recent interview, Jamie Lee Curtis candidly speaks about the essentially absent role her father played in her life, saying that “he was not an involved father.” Curtis states:
“The invention of Tony Curtis was his life. He was in the navy, he was present for the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay – then he became this whole other thing, he changed his name and he changed his life.
Children, as we all know, are complicated and messy. He was not a father and he was not interested in being a father. It’s not a slant against him, he was very clear. He did what he was supposed to do from a financial standpoint, which was honorable of him but he was not an involved father.”
This breaks my heart. It’s so upsetting that a man that was loved and watched by so many people was not interested in the people who probably loved him the most: his children. Our hearts go out to Jamie Lee Curtis, as this time must be difficult for numerous reasons.
