John Lennon's birthday will be celebrated worldwide

John Lennon’s birthday will be celebrated worldwide today, as the legendary musician would have celebrated his 70th birthday had his life not tragically ended in 1980.

Fans around the world will celebrate John Lennon’s birthday, remembering his legacy in a variety of ways whether gathering together to sing his songs, watching interviews and movies featuring the fallen Beatle or listening to his music and simply remembering what Lennon stood for.

Many fans will celebrate John Lennon’s birthday by visiting Central Park’s Strawberry Fields, a site named after the Lennon song.

Some will celebrate at Central Park’s SummerStage Theater for a free screening of a new documentary about Lennon’s years in New York City, “LENNONYC.” The film will air on PBS on November 22.

Google is celebrating Lennon’s 70th birthday with a video doodle set to his song, “Imagine.”
