Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, and More! 13 Halloween Costumes Ideas from the New MillenniumJoanna Mazewski
Hannah Montana, Paris Hilton, Newlyweds, and Von Dutch hats. Yes, these were all staples of our pop culture days nearly a decade ago! Of course, I’m talking about the new millennium and some of our favorite icons from that era before the Jersey Shore became the new Laguna Beach and when everyone still had first generation iPods with scroll wheels. I know, crazy, right?
Check out our slideshow of some budget Halloween costume ideas that will let you recreate pop culture moments from nearly a decade ago. Let us know what you think!
Halloween Costume Ideas 1 of 14
Hannah Montana 2 of 14
Can you believe this used to be Miley Cyrus? Yes, before her "Wrecking Ball" days, we had Hannah Montana and all of her innocence. Wouldn't it be great to see pre-MTV Music Awards Mileys this Halloween? Cowboy boots, modest dresses, and a cute Southern smile is all you would need! A Jonas Brother boyfriend would make a great accessory, too.
Paris Hilton 3 of 14
Paris Hilton. Ahh, our FIRST ever celebrity socialite. For her outfit, a belly crop top, low-rise jeans, lots of peroxide, and her perfume (which you can find at your local CVS) will do.
Kanye West 4 of 14
Is this really Kanye West from 2003? Yes, yes it is. Wow, he was pretty handsome, wasn't he? To be a pre-Kardashian Kanye, all you need is a purple vest, black blazer, brown cords, and "Gold Digger" on repeat on your old-school iPod.
Justin Timberlake 5 of 14
Justin Timberlake. Von Dutch trucker hat. That is all.
Newlyweds 6 of 14
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were our favorite couple from the early 2000s! For their couples costume, all you need are Nick's cheesy tattoos and a Chicken of the Sea can for Jessica. Everyone will get it right away!
Britney Spears 7 of 14
Good luck trying to recreate this Britney Spears outfit from back in the day, although I'm sure you could probably find most of its material at your local Jo-Ann fabric store. But I will say that I do miss seeing Britney Spears smile like that!
Eminem 8 of 14
If you want to be Eminem for Halloween, all you need is a white shirt and a track suit. Man, that was so his uniform back in the day!
Brangelina 9 of 14
Sorry folks, but I don't think anyone can pull off being Brangelina for Halloween. There are just no two people that are as good looking as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt circa 2005 put together. But you can definitely try!
Sex and the City 10 of 14
Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and (my favorite) Miranda. These costumes should be pretty easy, as all you need are LOTS of designer labels, shoes, and handbags. And of course, Manolo Blahniks!
Laguna Beach 11 of 14
Laguna Beach. Let's just take a moment here to say WOW everyone has changed so much. Kristin Cavallari looks a little like Kelly Clarkson in this picture, doesn't she? For this costume, all you need is an Orange County tan, blonde highlights, and a Louis Vuitton bag circa 2003. To be honest with you, I kind of prefer their style over the Jersey Shore one we're seeing these days.
The Beckhams 12 of 14
The Beckhams back when they were trying to break America! They're still trying to do that, right? All you need are head-to-toe ensembles in white and his and hers hair extensions. English accents and bling are optional.
Ashton Kutcher 13 of 14
Ashton Kutcher during his PUNK'D days. I think this is the Ashton Kutcher I loved to watch the most! All you need is a trucker hat and, well, a little bit of a cocky personality. We still love you Ashton!
Survivor 14 of 14
Survivor Season 1: Just don't shower or brush your teeth for one week and wear the same exact clothes, and you've got this costume MADE!
