Silvia Mena Sues NFL's Albert Haynesworth for Being Deadbeat DadErin Blakeley
Silvia Mena, a 25-year-old exotic dancer from Brooklyn, is suing NFL pro-bowler Albert Haynesworth for $10 million, claiming the Redskin’s defensive tackle got her pregnant, promised to support her, and then abandoned her.
According to the New York Post, Mena and Haynesworth met in Miami during the Superbowl, and then had a romantic tryst at Haynesworth’s Tennessee home. According to Mena, and papers filed today in court in Brooklyn, Haynesworth initially promised to support the child after learning she was pregnant. Then, he stopped taking her calls.
According to the papers, Haynesworth “has refused to provide any emotional or financial support of Silvia Mena or his unborn child”. Then the complaint actually gets a little weird, with Mena alleging that Hayneworth wanted her to see an NFL doctor (you know, because they have so much OB/GYN experience) and Mena fearing that “some effort might be made to purposefully make her lose the child”.
Haynesworth signed a whopping $100 million contract with the Washington Redskins in 2009, so he’s got a few bucks. Mena’s attorney told the Post that she had to apply for Medicaid because Haynesworth refuses to cover any of her medical expenses, and Mena herself seems to be claiming emotional distress, telling the Post she “cries all the time”.
No statement yet from Haynesworth about all this. What do you think? Has he managed to be a deadbeat dad, before his child is even born? Or is there more to this story?
