Kim Kardashian, Sharon Osbourne And More: Is The Atkins Diet Making A Comeback? (Photos)Joanna Mazewski
Let’s face it — people like to keep fit, look good, and feel good about themselves and that is something that will never go out of style. And of course, it sure doesn’t hurt when you have a celebrity name-dropping and hawking your diet program, too. If you look at someone like Sharon Osbourne or Kim Kardashian, whatever the reality star is tweeting, hawking, promoting, or even talking about, the product either flies off the shelves or sells out in minutes. I guess you can call it the Kim Kardashian effect, and she’s doing it once again.
Sharon recently celebrated her one-year anniversary with the Atkins diet (where she lost 23 pounds), while Kim admitted that she, too, is on the diet to help shed those post-baby pounds after having given birth to her daughter North West. It looks like the popular no-carbs diet is definitely making a comeback.
A decade ago, the no carb/high protein Atkins was the most popular diet in Hollywood, with celebrity followers including Jennifer Aniston and Renee Zellweger. Now Atkins is back, new and improved and with more varied foods on the menu. Dieters can include healthy carbs such as wholegrain bread, brown rice, pasta, and fruit. Jennifer is believed to be a fan of the more relaxed Atkins lite.
Check out our photos below of other celebrities who live by Atkins, including Sharon, Courtney Thorne-Smith, and more, and let us know what you think! Are you a fan of the diet?

Renee Zellweger 9 of 10
Although she binged to gain weight for her role in the Bridget Jones movies, Renee Zellweger whipped her body back into shape with the Atkins Diet, too.
Courtney Thorne-Smith 10 of 10
Courtney was a spokesperson for the Atkins diet as well. She says: But in my experience I noticed that the people who were in good shape all had the same lifestyle that included cutting carbs and eating lots of protein. Of course, they didn't necessarily call it Atkins. When I finally went back and read the Atkins book, I was able to figure out what I needed to eat in order to be my own food judge. I eat a plant-based diet, and no starch or sugar. Of course, like on my son's first birthday, I had a piece of cake -- it's just a rare treat -- so to balance it out, I won't have as much fruit the next day.
Disclaimer: Should you have any healthcare-related questions, please call or see your physician or other healthcare provider. Consult your physician or health care provider before beginning the Atkins Diet as you would any other weight loss or weight maintenance program. The weight loss phases of the Atkins Diet should not be used by persons on dialysis or by pregnant or nursing women.
