Wear Purple October 20: Fans Of Spirit Day Speak Out On FacebookTheMommyologist
Just in case you didn’t get the memo, you are supposed to wear purple today, October 20th. Today is Spirit Day, and people everywhere are wearing the color purple to show their support to put an end to LGBT bullying.
In the wake of the tragic deaths of Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh, and Justin Aaberg, to name a few, people are coming together and realizing what a problem teen bullying, and especially cyber-bullying, has become.
A Facebook fan page has been set up for supporters of Spirit Day. Here are some posts from Facebook Spirit Day fans:
“I will proudly wear purple on October 20th, I hope all of my friends and family will spread the word and do the same…”
Another fan wrote:
“Bullying crosses all gender and race lines…parents need to teach their children to be tolerant of others…our differences should be celebrated and not condemned. Peace.”
One more supporter added:
“This is the least I can do for those who unfortunately passed because of horrible prejudice.”
Are you wearing purple today, October 20th?
