Woody Ornament

Supplies

  • Glass ornament
  • Yellow, red, and black paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Painter’s tape
  • Soft white felt
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Gold glitter card stock
  • String

Directions

  1. Paint the entire ornament with yellow paint. Let it dry between coats.
  2. Use painter’s tape to create horizontal lines. Use a thin brush to paint red lines along the tape. Remove tape when the paint is dry.
  3. Create vertical lines with painter’s tape, then add red lines with paint. Remove tape when the paint is dry.
  4. Measure the white felt along the ornament. The top of the felt should be near the top of the ornament, and the bottom of the felt should end before the rounding at the bottom. The felt should be wide enough before it starts to bunch along the ornament. You will need one piece of felt for either side, to avoid bunching. Mark these points with a pen and cut with scissors.
  5. Once cut to size, paint a cowhide pattern with black paint on one side of each piece of felt. Let dry.
  6. Glue felt onto the ornament. When the glue is still warm, smooth out the felt so it doesn’t bunch.
  7. Cut a star shape out of card stock. Glue to ornament.
  8. Tie string through the ornament loop.
