Make a Fleece Scarf with Some Fancy FringeMarie LeBaron
This fancy fleece scarf is a super simple project and adds a little bit of extra flare to your ware. With Halloween coming up, it’s just what you need to spruce up your costume or for a spooky holiday party.
You could also make a set of 20 or so fringe scarves for your child’s sports team, helping to show off their school colors. And with football season approaching, this scarf is sure to keep you cozy and warm.
Follow these easy instructions for making your own fancy fringe scarf.
Supplies for Fancy Fringe Scarf:
- 1/2 yard of fleece total (any color) – should be enough to make one finished scarf
- sewing machine or needle & thread
Step 1 1 of 3Cut your fleece into 2 or 3 long strips, depending on how thick you want your scarf. My strips are about 4-5 inches wide and 5 feet long. (You'll want to cut it shorter for a child size scarf, about 3-4 feet long.)
Step 2 2 of 3Layer either 2 or 3 fleece strips on top of each other. It's more fun if these are a different color for each piece of fleece. Sew down the middle of your stacked fleece strips, just one straight line. This is best done with a sewing machine, but you could simply use a needle and thread if you're without a machine.
Step 3 3 of 3Once your strips are sewn together, cut 1 inch wide slits up each side of fleece. You want to get pretty close to the middle, but DO NOT CUT through the sewn line. Then fluff it up and it's ready to wear.
