This weekend marks the fifth annual margarita party that I host every year with my mom at her house on the lake. The tradition began as an itch to throw a little fiesta and has grown into an event that friends and family look forward to all year long. We do up a huge make-your-own taco bar, mix up pitchers of fresh margaritas and litter the yard with lawn games of all varieties. (For ideas, check out my favorite lawn games!) Trust me when I say, this is the perfect party for kids and those kids at heart. Want to plan a fiesta of your own? Here’s my guide for throwing an awesome margarita party!

I love this one from West Elm.

Drink Bucket 6 of 10A big drink tub is the easiest way to keep drinks chilled and at the ready. Plus, it's prettier than a big plastic cooler!
Get this one at West Elm.
Classic Margarita Glasses 7 of 10Of course, no margarita party is complete without classic margarita glasses. You can often find them locally this time of year in lots of colors in break-proof plastic.
These ones from Crate & Barrel are some of my favorites.
Mexican Serapes 8 of 10These striped Mexican blankets are such a classic and they're so versatile - use them as a tapestry for an interesting backdrop behind the bar, use them as tablecloths or set a pile out for guests to set up their own little picnic on the lawn.
Get them on the cheap from Amazon.
Table Fringe 9 of 10Add a little pep to the festivities with some super colorful and really fun table fringe.
Shop TOPS Malibu to get the goods.
The Perfect Margarita 10 of 10Naturally a margarita party requires great margaritas. Pre-mixed and frozen versions need not apply - the best margaritas feature fresh lime juice, good tequila, orange liqueur and are served on the rocks. (Just say no to bright green margaritas, trust me!) Try this recipe from Food & Wine on The Huffington Post to get started!
