Every fall we do the big transition from summer to winter clothes, and every year most things don’t seem to fit anymore. I’ll admit that when we go to the store I too tend to migrate to the cute clothes, which is why I’ve made a list of the essentials. Above all it’s important they have the basics, like a beanie they can toss into a coat pocket or backpack.   • The Basic Beanie 1 of 10
    Have your kids pick out a basic beanie they can use all winter long. It can be as cute as they want, just make sure it will keep them extra warm.

    Find a warm scarf that is easy for them to take wherever they go.

  • Toasty Finger Gloves 3 of 10
    These gloves are great because they will keep their fingers nice and warm, but they can remove the mitten top so they can still easily text.

    Choose a basic pair of tights she can pair with any outfit. You can always throw some brightly colored ones in the mix too.
