Bracelet Base

Supplies

  • Steel tape measures (the thinner, the better)
  • Sharp scissors
  • Sand paper
  • White duct tape

Directions

  1. Cut a 6-7 inch strip of tape measure with a sharp pair of scissors.
  2. Slightly round the edges by trimming off the tape’s corners and sanding any sharp edges.
  3. Form the tape measure into a bracelet shape. Slowly roll it into a tight circle. Make small crimps in the metal, if needed, to keep its shape.
  4. Then use both hands to hold each end of the tape measure and slide the middle along a chair or table edge. This will help promote a rounded shape and give it more flexibility. Next, carefully test it as a bracelet. If it rolls, you’re ready for the next step.
  5. Wrap a strip of duct tape starting on the front (numbered side) of the tape measure, pressing around the edges to the back side. Then cut a thin strip of duct tape to cover the back (non-numbered side). Cut off excess duct tape on either side, rounding the edges and leaving about 1/4-inch excess tape.
