Oh, Disney Tree!

Tinker Bell ChristmasOnce upon a time we had a Christmas tree covered in popcorn, cranberries, and all of the bright, round balls you could ever want. Assuming you want such things. I don’t know what you are into.

We, it turns out, are into Disney, and what started as a random Mickey Mouse ornament here or the occasional Tinker Bell tree topper there (pictured) soon took off and ate our holidays.

Just kidding, nobody ate anything — not even the popcorn or cranberries. However, our collection of Disney ornaments continued to grow, especially once we had kids, and now it is one of our favorite holiday traditions. Every year we go to a Disney theme park, Disney Store, or Hallmark and shop for new ornaments. We all get to pick one, because we’re fair like that.

We’re going to need a bigger tree.

Here are some of our favorite Disney Christmas ornaments from over the years:

Frosty may have some magic in that old top hat, but Mickey ears are pretty magical, too.
  • Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog Here 2 of 25
    Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog Here
Kermit is swinging on a star, and making it work. When you're on a Christmas tree it's easy to be green.
  • Luxo, Jr. is a Festive Lamp 3 of 25
Luxo, Jr. is a Festive Lamp
How does a light decorate for the holidays? With more lights of course. Makes sense to me.
  • No Coal for Tink 4 of 25
    No Coal for Tink
The other side of Tinker Bell's tag says "nice," but we don't see it very often.
  • Goodie, Goodie, Gumdrop 5 of 25
    Goodie, Goodie, Gumdrop
Tinker Bell is my wife's favorite. She makes many appearances on the tree.
  • Cinderella’s Ride 6 of 25
    Cinderella's Ride
This ornament can stay on the tree well past midnight, but after Christmas it turns into a pumpkin. True story.
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Tree Farm 7 of 25
    Mickey & Minnie's Tree Farm
Of course Mickey and Minnie have a tree farm. Also, a log swing.
  • Waiting on Santa 8 of 25
    Waiting on Santa
Mickey and Pluto put out milk and cookies for Santa, but it was the sugarplums that knocked them out.
  • Hey, Where’s Perry? 9 of 25
    Hey, Where's Perry?
Agent P is caught in our treeanator. Now for some backstory...

    Mickey the Snowman
You know you want to go outside and make this. First, make snow.
  • Thinking of a Wonderful Thought 11 of 25
    Thinking of a Wonderful Thought
It's easy to fly during the holidays (but be safe!). Tink and Peter are joined by a thin wire.
  • Love Mice 12 of 25
    Love Mice
This 2012 addition to the collection is a bit more subtle than the rest because we can.
  • Christmas Wrapping with Goofy 13 of 25

We all knew how this would end. Garsh.
  • Mele Kalikimaka Means Merry Christmas 14 of 25

Stitch loves the holidays. He's not too sure about the mistletoe though...
  • The Ornament of Christmas Present 15 of 25
    The Ornament of Christmas Present
Tiny Tim is going to be okay, and we have Scrooge to thank.
  • Disneyland’s 50th 16 of 25
    Disneyland's 50th
We bought this ornament the year of Disneyland's 50th celebration. The castle is not to scale.

Help Rocket spread the Christmas spirit! Are you ready?
  • Oooh, the Claus! 18 of 25
    Oooh, the Claus!
I'm pretty proud of that headline. My youngest loves, and I mean LOVES, the green men from the Toy Story films. He is forever grateful.
  • Look Out Below! 19 of 25
    Look Out Below!
Pooh is a bear of little brain and much Christmas spirit. Eeyore has his back.
  • Mickey Claus 20 of 25
    Mickey Claus
    Apparently one creature was stirring.
  • Ski Ducks 21 of 25
    Ski Ducks
Donald appears to be in the duck house at the moment. That's totally a thing.
  • Hello, Stanley 22 of 25
    Hello, Stanley
Remember Stanley and his great big book of everything? We do.
  • Mulan 23 of 25
Mulan is one of my wife's favorite Disney movies. She is the toughest person on the tree.
  • Minnie Claus 24 of 25
    Minnie Claus
Behind every good mouse is another mouse. Especially at Christmas.
  • Can’t Catch Me, I’m the Mustache Man 25 of 25
Can't Catch Me, I'm the Mustache Man
Okay, he's not a Disney character, but he was made at Disneyland by my oldest son and that trumps all.

Do you have any Disney in your holiday decor?
