Thanks to Disneyland Parks for inviting me to cover #Disney24 — All opinions are my own.
Last weekend kicked off the summer season at Disney Parks and I was thrilled to catch the scene at the Disneyland Resort. It was my second time attending #Disney24 — a special event where the parks stay open a full 24 hours. This is a big deal for fans, many of whom travel great distances to meet up at the park. Celebrities were on hand doing interviews and special food treats, activities, and photo ops were scattered throughout the parks throughout the day. But what made #Disney24 most special for us were the DIY Disney costumes. We were nothing short of delighted just seeing what people came up with!
This year fans were invited to “Rock your #DisneySide” at the event and dress up as their favorite Disney characters. So many fans rose to the occasion, showing off amazing, creative and elaborate costumes — many of which were handmade. The costumes were an homage to favorite films and characters alike.
We caught photos of some of the amazing creativity displayed by Disney fans in attendance and I even captured a short tutorial for @Disneyfluentials, on how this handsome Chimney Sweep made his signature sweeper. It would be a great project to try at home!
From hand-painted shoes to handmade Maleficent horns and a full-on Jack Skellington suit, when it comes to costumes, Disney fans are the best!
Special thanks to my daughters and their friend Clarissa who dressed up for the occasion, interviewed park reps and fans, and assisted on scouting photo ops. They also managed to stay awake in the parks for the full 24 hours and interview a resident Disneyland goat at Thunder Mountain Ranch, for whom #Disney24 is just another regular day at work.
These hand painted shoes were a down to earth way to show your DIY #Disneyside!
This skirt is an amazing feat of origami! Constructed entirely of Park Maps!
Ursula and Ariel added so many touches to their costumes. From Ariel's fork to Ursula's painted shell necklace and embellished hand mirror - proof that the little things matter a lot!
These Up costumes really made us smile. Russell's DIY Sash is pretty awesome but it was the entire lovingly crafted Kevin (the bird) ensemble crafted from felt that made us grin from ear to ear.
These fans added their own touches to store bought items, taking their costumes to the next level
So you've never seen a Mickey Fedora before? This fan made his own and we loved it!
This Chimney Sweep Costume required minimal crafting for maximum awesomeness
This costumed couple's look was simple to execute and extremely effective!
Even the photo bomber loves this elaborate Maleficent and friends trio
