Chatting with Dove Cameron: Star of “Cloud 9” the Disney Channel Original Movie

Disney Channel has done it again. They’ve found another incredibly talented young lady with unlimited star potential. She can sing and act, is gorgeous and gracious – quite the package! If you haven’t guessed it yet, we are talking about Dove Cameron! If you’re not familiar with her already, you will be soon. She plays twins on the new hit Disney Channel show, Liv and Maddie. She sings the song “Better in Stereo” that is playing on constant repeat in our house. Equally exciting is tonight’s premiere of Cloud 9 her new Disney Channel Original Movie.

Cloud 9 the story of two snowboarders: Kayla Morgan (Dove Cameron) and Will Cloud (Luke Benward) who come from two different worlds. Watch what happens when their paths collide and they are challenged way beyond their comfort zones. Facing the truth and their biggest fears, they risk it all to get back on top of the competitive snowboarding circuit – together! We love the positive message from the film —nothing is impossible! Catch Kayla and Will’s  journey Friday, January 17 at 8/7c on Disney Channel! We got the chance to ask Dove Cameron a few questions, and here’s what we learned about the newest Disney star! Just a little more trivia, on Tuesday, January 14th  she turned 18. Happy Birthday, Dove, we wish you a magical year!

DS: How hard is it to play twins on Liv and Maddie?

DC:  Playing twins was somewhat daunting at first. I had no idea how I was going to successfully pull off two completely opposite personas, who simultaneously had nothing in common, but had enough in common to have it be plausible that they were related and raised under the same roof! But, about three or four episodes in, it got to be fairly routine, and now, with season one under our belts, it’s even more solidified in our bones!

DS:  We love your song “Better in Stereo” yes we know all the words! You have an amazing voice, are you working on an album?

DC: Thank you so much! I am definitely planning on releasing a record. Music is just as much of a passion for me as acting is, so, hopefully, if it’s well received, I’ll be releasing some number of records! Everything is a little up in the air right now in terms of scheduling, so I can’t safely give you any dates, but I promise to keep you all posted.

DS: Do you have a personal motto or mantra you try to follow? (ie. Hakuna Matata)

DC: I do! My personal mantra is: “Love and light”. It’s on the back of my locket that I wear around my neck at all times, it’s what I sign next to my signature for every autograph, and it’s what I wish my loved ones every time we say goodbye. I just think it’s a phenomenal message and idea to keep at the forefront of your brain all day. Keeps your energy pure, and your priorities straight.

DS: What is your favorite Disney movie?

DC: My favorite Disney movie is Tangled! My boyfriend and I are planning on going as Flynn and Rapunzel for Halloween this year. The internet seems to have decided that we look like the characters, which we find highly flattering and endlessly hilarious!
