Ashton Kutcher Wants to Know Why There Are No Changing Tables in Men’s Restrooms

It’s a situation us moms know all too well. We’re out running errands (GO US for making it out of the house!) when all of a sudden a pungent smell starts wafting from our Ergo. Nothing gets us high-tailing it to the women’s restroom on a quest for the parenting holy grail (aka changing table) faster than a baby that’s just erupted the blow out of all diaper blow outs.

But what’s a dad to do when thrown into this same situation, fleeing to the men’s room with his baby (read: stink bomb) only to find ZERO changing tables in sight? That’s exactly what happened to Ashton Kutcher earlier this week while he was on a solo outing with his 5-month-old daughter, Wyatt Isabelle. And he wasn’t happy about it. He took to Facebook to address the issue:

“There are NEVER diaper changing stations in mens public restrooms. The first public men’s room that I go into that has one gets a free shout out on my FB page! #BeTheChange”

Amen. It’s 2015, people. Dads aren’t the sideline parent they’ve long been stereotyped as. They’re getting their kids dressed in the morning, conquering bath-time, and staying at home so their partner can work.

Parenting expert and Babble contributor Doyin Richards is one such father. In an interview with CBS Los Angeles, he lamented:

“Dads are more nurturing, loving, and more involved than they’ve ever been, but society is not getting the memo. […] In today’s climate, we need to legislate common sense. And I think that if a changing table exists in a women’s restroom, there needs to be one in the adjacent men’s restroom. It’s that simple. Who can’t get behind that?”

We can. It’s time more businesses acknowledged this issue and we all decided to #BeTheChange. Let’s make sure all public restrooms are family-friendly — both women’s and men’s. What say you?
