If you’ve been patiently waiting for A Bad Moms Christmas to come out for what feels like forever, I am right there with you. The first film was so laugh-out-loud funny, I nearly peed myself during multiple scenes. (Just me?) Luckily, we’re just days away from the second film’s release, which is set to hit theaters November 1.
And here’s a bonus: Babble just got an exclusive sneak peek at one of the movie’s funniest scenes, which features Kristen Bell (Kiki), Cheryl Hines (Kiki’s mom Candy) and the always hilarious Wanda Sykes, who returns as Dr. Karl — the most no-BS shrink of all time.
In case you’re behind, let me catch you up to speed: The second installment of Bad Moms brings back the ladies we all know and love — Amy (Mila Kunis), Kiki (Kristen Bell), and Carla (Kathryn Hahn) — and catches up with them at one of the most stressful times of the year for moms: the dreaded holidays. But A Bad Moms Christmas kicks things up a notch by also introducing each character’s mom, who helps (in her own lovingly/irritating way) raise their daughters’ stress levels by like, 500 percent.
This exclusive sneak peek gives us just a small taste of the drama that ensues between Kiki and her mom, who have one of those too-close-for-comfort relationships that is so relatable, it hurts. In fact, things reach such a fever pitch, that the pair wind up on Dr. Karl’s couch for a mother-daughter session that Kiki hopes will diffuse some of the tension. (Spoiler alert: It does not.)
“Candy,” Dr. Karl asks as the clip opens, “tell me about your relationship with your daughter.”
“Ohhh myyy goshhh, that’s my favorite topic,” Candy says. “I had Kiki when I was 18 years old, and when the nurse placed her on my breast, I looked down at her and I said YOU ARE GONNA BE MY BEST FRIEND FOREVER!”
Let’s be real — if you’re not in one of those mother-daughter relationships yourself, chances are you know someone who is. And that basically goes for all the mother-daughter duos in this film, which promise to give us a hilarious glimpse into the unique bond — and infuriating tension — that exists between mothers and their daughters.
The ladies of Bad Moms have been making the rounds in the last few weeks while on the film’s press tour, and they’ve been spilling plenty of behind-the-scenes details about making the film, which sounds like it was pretty damn fun. But they’ve also been spilling some real-life “bad mom moments” of their own, for good measure.
Like the fact that Kristen Bell’s daughter developed a taste for beer at the ripe old age of 5 months, thanks to her husband Dax Shepard. (Well, sorta.)
“When we had our first baby, we’d go on a walk every night with the baby, just to get out of the house, and [Dax] would have her in the Babybjörn, and he would pop an O’Doul’s,” Bell recently told People mag. “She started at 5 months to claw at it.”
Not to be outdone, Kunis stepped in with a tale of her own.
“Want me to make you feel better?” she asked. “We do Shabbat at our house. At Shabbat, you have a sip of wine. My daughter [Wyatt] has had a sip of wine since she was born.”
“Friday mornings [when she] wakes up and I’m like, ‘It’s Friday,’ she goes, ‘I can have wine?!'”
LOL. (Sounds like Kunis’ daughter and I have that in common.)
