Early this morning, Nickelodeon dropped a Blue’s Clues bombshell: they’re reviving the show for a whole new generation of preschoolers!
Like me, original viewers of the show are in their twenties now and many have kids of their own that they’d love to share the program with. Blue’s Clues has been approved for 20 episodes — even though there’s no official host just yet. The search is on for the next man or woman to help the beloved pup along in her educational adventures with an open casting call on April 14th in Southern California.
In a press release from Nickelodeon, President Cyma Zarghami notes:
“The new, modern version of ‘Blue’s Clues’ will capture all the original’s creativity and visual identity for a whole new audience ready for its fun adventures and expertly designed problem-solving curriculum.”
As long as they haven’t done away with the catchy “Mailtime” song, I’m on board. The press release also says that the show will encourage preschoolers to interact with the action on-screen by “answering questions, pointing out clues, jumping on their feet, and playing along.” Sounds like the perfect way to keep kiddos entertained, amirite?
While I’m super excited about this Blue’s Clues announcement, I still have so many questions! Will Magenta return? What about Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, and baby Paprika!?
I guess, we will all just have to watch and find out!
