If you’re a longtime fan of the show Gilmore Girls like I am, most likely you’ve pictured yourself strolling down the streets of Stars Hollow on a snowy night or attending one of the ridiculous town meetings. In fact, the town square is the stage of so many epic Gilmore Girls scenes we know and love — like the toast after Luke and Lorelai got engaged or the wedding itself in the revival.
So, as a fan, imagine how amazing it would be to get engaged in such a romantic, sweet spot?
Well, that actually happened to one lucky girl — and the proposal couldn’t have been any more perfect.
Molly and Sebastian, now living in San Diego, California, have been together for four years. They hit it off immediately and moved in together a year later. Molly said they had talked about marriage and kids, but she had no idea what was coming her way.
Molly tells Babble that Sebastian had known for a long time that she was a fan of Gilmore Girls. However, she had no idea that he was planning an epic proposal she would never forget.
“He was organizing the proposal with my sister, cousin, and the WB tour staff,” Molly says. “They had my cousin call me and tell me that she had been gifted four free tickets to the tour and that she wanted to bring us. I had absolutely no idea that anything was out of the ordinary at all!”
Obviously, Sebastian went to great lengths to surprise her on the big day.
“We were on the WB Studios tour, and my cousin and older sister were also with us, as Sebastian knew how important it would mean to me for them to be there for the special moment,” she says. “Since we’ve been together for so long, we’ve definitely talked about marriage and kids, but I had no idea that the proposal was coming that day!”
Molly tells Babble that she had watched the show with her mom when she was growing up, but that as she got older, she also enjoyed learning how it was written and directed. She went on to explain why she loves the show so much (and why the proposal was perfect for her).
“I also love that they are able to touch on important matters and realistic issues but still maintain such a lighthearted tone,” says Molly. “It’s just always been a show to easily come back to. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve related with most of the characters in different ways. Also, I aspire to one day be as witty as Lorelai!”
Me too, Molly. Me too.
After doing the WB Studio tour, Sebastian planned to take Molly to Stars Hollow and pop the question. Thrilled (and totally surprised), Molly shared a video clip on Twitter of the moment Sebastian proposed — and it was just as special as an episode of Gilmore Girls.
In fact, if you listen closely enough … you can even hear everyone in the iconic town square erupt into cheers when she said yes!
