Four-year-olds aren’t exactly known for mincing words. In fact, they’re hilariously honest (sometimes brutally so) with their many thoughts and feelings — and they’re all absolute pros at catching their parents off-guard with them.
Just ask Chris Hemsworth, the proud papa of one adorably self-aware 4-year-old, India Rose. The actor, who stars in the upcoming film The Huntsman: Winter’s War, stopped by The Ellen Show Monday, where he shared one of his daughter’s most recent requests: she would really, really love it if she could have a penis, just like her two twin brothers. Please and thank you.
“My daughter’s kind of envious of my boys at the moment,” the actor explained. “She came to me the other day and said, ‘Papa, I want one of those things that Sasha and Tristan have … the things in between their legs.'”
His response? Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly so swift right away.
He started by trying to awkwardly explain that, well, as cool as penises are, girls and boys are equipped with different anatomical set-ups. Of course, this started him down a path of trying to explain that while boys have super cool penises, “girls have breasts,” which to be fair, are also pretty cool. (I’m guessing he just skipped over the whole vagina convo.)
Unfortunately, Hemsworth’s strategy quickly backfired when India shouted back, “I don’t want breasts! I really want one … I want a penis!”
So he improvised — in the best way possible.
“I was like, ‘You know what? You can be whatever you want to be,'” Hemsworth told Ellen of his off-the-cuff response.
In other words: he totally nailed it.More On
