Dax Shepard Serenaded Ellen for Her 60th Birthday and It Was an Absolute Delight

It’s hard to believe Ellen Degeneres just turned 60 years old (like really really hard to believe), but it’s true. The talk show host rang in the big 6-0 on January 26, although she really started celebrating earlier in the week when she pre-taped her birthday episode and played a video of Dax Shepard, who surprised her with an original tune he composed. And my, was it delightful.

The “love” ballad begins benignly enough, with Shepard sitting behind a rose petal-covered piano, channeling his best John Legend impression.

You got the prettiest eyes I ever did see / And a smile that can light up the world, Shepard croons (while apparently forgetting that he’s married to none other than Kristen Bell).

But soon enough, he gets right down to business, singing: I know that Portia’s your girl / But if you were single and straight I’d rock your world.

The hilarious ballad, which is aptly named “You Make 60 Look Sexy,” continues on to compliment Ellen’s general amazingness, while the video features some hilarious throwbacks to moments throughout the show and even Ellen’s ill-advised ’80s perm.

Shepard wasn’t the only one to surprise Ellen and wish her a big ‘ole HBD, though. Shepard’s wife Kristen Bell also swung by and gave Ellen a super sweet present.

“It’s not huge, but it’s meaningful to me,” Bell shared, as she handed Ellen a T-shirt. “Because it says, ‘It took 60 years to look this good,’ but I don’t think it’s pointing to your face. I think it’s pointing to your heart.” (How adorable is that?)

Justin Timberlake even took a break while prepping for both his tour and the Super Bowl half-time show to Skype in and virtually present Ellen with some flowers.

HBD, Ellen! Sixty truly never did look this good!
