We’re all mad here — for art!
Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls got together with Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass to launch a whimsical Instagram contest allowing fans to submit their original art to be showcased at the Hero Complex Gallery in L.A. There were so many incredible submissions, which can all be viewed at #InspiredByAliceContest on Instagram.
Drew Taylor, of Oh My Disney, had the chance to speak with Smart Girl’s general manager Maggie Chieffo about the contest. She told him:
“I was really amazed by the level of talent throughout all of the submissions. Our motto is, ‘Change the world by being yourself.’ A place on the Internet for young women and smart girls at heart of all ages. We encourage people to be their weird and wonderful selves — self-expression and creativity is what we’re all about.”
We can’t think of a better film than Alice Through the Looking Glass to help inspire creativity in young women, and neither could the Hero Complex Gallery. The L.A.-based gallery is hosting a collection of Alice-themed artwork from over 50 female artists!
You can dive right into the art show and get to know one of the featured artists thanks to Oh My Disney’s Facebook Live coverage from the event. If you’re a die-hard Alice fan and want a piece of the artwork for yourself, you can peruse the pieces (and purchase them!) on the Hero Complex Gallery’s website.
