It’s that time of year again … when that over-zealous Girl Scout cookie order you placed months ago finally arrives — and you are equal parts giddy and embarrassed by how many boxes are now in your possession. But what better way to wash down that full box of Samoas you’re totally gonna eat tonight than with Dunkin’ Donuts’ all-new GIRL SCOUT COOKIE-INSPIRED COFFEES, OMG.
Seriously, though — this isn’t just a fantasy. Dunkin’ released the new line of flavors on February 24, and they are mouthwateringly delicious-looking.
According to a blog post issued by DD earlier this week, the coffee giant has introduced three new coffee flavors inspired by iconic Girl Scout Cookies™: Thin Mints®, Coconut Caramel, and Peanut Butter Cookie. (I don’t know about you, but my stomach is already grumbling.)
The blog post was penned by Dunkin’ Donuts food scientist and Sr. Research and Development Technologist Courtney Anderson, who says she was “overjoyed” to be present in the test kitchen during the many rounds it took to perfect each drink. (Oh Courtney — the world is eternally jealous of you right now.)
Apparently, the whole process is super involved (but also, let’s be real, super delish).
“It all starts with the Girl Scout Cookies themselves,” explains Anderson. “Our team of food scientists, chefs and bakers tasted all of the cookies, and broke down the different flavor components in each one. With Thin Mints, for example, we tasted a crunchy cookie with a rich chocolate outside and a cooling mint finish. We then worked to translate those flavors for our coffee. The result: a delicious Thin Mints inspired coffee flavor!”
I feel like if I was a member of this food scientist team, I would still be in my Girl Scout cookie coma from all the Tagalongs I ingested.
As part of the unveil, Dunkin did the honors from a location in Savannah, Georgia (the birthplace of the Girl Scouts, in case you didn’t know), where they filmed this super fun Facebook live video:
Sadly, the new bevvies are only available for a limited time — beginning February 26 and running through May — but all will be sold in either hot or iced coffees, lattes, macchiatos, frozen coffee, and frozen chocolate at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide. And at least that gives you a solid two months to hit up the Dunkin’ drive thru for one of these bad boys on the reg.
What’s more, select Dunkin’ Donuts locations throughout the U.S. will also “open their doors to cookie entrepreneurs, inviting local troops to sell Girl Scout Cookies at Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants on weekends February 24 – March 18,” according to Anderson. (You can find out if your local Dunkin’ is participating by heading to GirlScoutCookies.org or using the official Girl Scout Cookie Finder app.)
