Girl Scouts Use Leonardo DiCaprio to Sell Cookies in Brilliant Marketing Ploy

Those Girl Scouts, I tell ya. They are some smart little cookies (pun totally intended).

A local troop from Suffolk County, NY had the genius idea to capitalize on the good looks of Academy Award®-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio to help sell their cookies and needless to say, it’s totally working.

The sign, which you can see above, reads:

This is Leo

Leo wants an Oscar

Leo buys Girl Scout Cookies at the Awards

Leo wins an Oscar

Leo is smart

Be like Leo

“We thought the photo was funny and would help make people buy cookies,” the troop told ABC News. “We saw the Academy Awards® and thought it would be a good idea if we could do something like that.”

Good idea is an understatement. Not only did it catch people’s attention (some even stopping to take photos of it), but once they got people to stop, they almost always placed an order. Because, as the troop pointed out, “It’s hard to say no to a Girl Scout.”

Spoken like a lady who knows the true power she yields.

The official Girl Scout Cookie Facebook page shared a photo of the poster on Monday and it has since received more than 58k “likes,” 16k shares, and 1,300 comments (including a rather heated debate over the profit margin of the cookies that is worth checking out if you have a glass of wine in hand and want to go down that rabbit hole of awkwardness).

Oh and if you’re looking to take your evening to the next level, I’ll just leave this right here for you.
