No one sings the Frozen hit “Let it Go” quite like Idina Menzel — except maybe this vivacious 9-year-old boy.
The voice of Queen Elsa has been on tour the past few months, including a special treat for kids during each performance. Menzel has been inviting children from the audience to join her in a sing-a-long of the Disney favorite — because who wouldn’t want to sing Elsa’s smash hit with Idina Menzel?
At a recent show in Grand Prairie, Texas she unknowingly handed the mic over to a young boy named Luke who would go on to shock the crowd with his impressive vocals.
She first singled him out, as he was the only boy, to ask if he knew what song was playing. The sassy little thing responded, “‘Let it Go,’ obviously,” winning the crowd over immediately. Menzel continued to explain how each time a boy comes on stage, they usually say they don’t really like the song. She noted that one boy even said he preferred Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from the movie Trolls.
“Heck to the no!” Luke responded. “I’m offended!”
As much as I love me some JT, I can’t help but agree. There is no better song for an epic sing-a-long than this Frozen smash-hit!
Following the witty banter, Menzel invited Luke to take a stab at singing the chorus. The result? An incredible rendition of the song. The Snow Queen herself was in shock, saying, “Can you all just shut up for a minute and let him sing it again?”
And sing it again he did — with flourish!
I can’t get enough of this kid. I’ll be listening to his rendition of the Frozen phenomenon all day long.
