Editor’s Note: Babble is a part of The Walt Disney Company.
Jenn Boonsom has been a lifelong lover of all things Disney. Her parents often took her to Walt Disney Parks as a kid and “that sense of and magic and wonder has just never faded,” she tells Babble.
When Jenn met her very own Prince Charming in Peter Boonsom, he embraced her love of Disney and became a fan himself. Today, Jenn and Peter are widely known on Instagram as the dynamic, Disney-loving duo PBandJellyJenn, with over 22K followers. They also have a popular blog, Our PB&J Adventure Book.
Soon after Jenn and Peter started dating, Disneyland became this adorable couple’s “happy place,” serving as the setting for their most magical moments, including their first “I love you” (right by Snow White’s wishing well), their proposal, and even their fairy-tale wedding. But according to Jenn, the pair’s happily ever after was still missing one thing.
In 2015, the couple began trying for a baby, but struggled for many months to conceive. The next year, Jenn and Peter were overjoyed to learn that they were expecting. Sadly, the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. Jenn says, “We were crushed, but [we] kept hope that the future still held something bright for us.”
A few months later, the couple “cautiously” celebrated the news that they were pregnant again. But at 21 weeks, just when they thought they had made it “through most of the ‘safe’ milestones,” the Boonsoms learned that their baby boy had several major heart defects, and lost him shortly thereafter. “Our world came crashing down on us,” Jenn tells Babble. “We were left shattered and completely heartbroken.”
But during their darkest days, Jenn and Peter made a promise to each other that no matter how bleak things seemed, they would continue holding out hope for their rainbow baby. As the Fairy Godmother in Disney’s Cinderella says, “Even miracles take a little time.”
The Boonsoms came up with a motto to help them through the heartbreak: “Hope & Hearts,” they would say to remind each other to keep looking forward and trust that something beautiful was in store.
That beauty revealed itself in May 2017 when the couple found out they were pregnant again with another baby boy, amazingly due the exact same week they lost their son last January. “It truly felt like our angel son was looking out for us from up above!” says Jenn.
The Boonsoms knew right away that they wanted to incorporate Disney into their much anticipated pregnancy.
“Disney was a huge source of happiness during my darkest of times [in] our pregnancy journey,” Jenn shares. “You could definitely say that Disney helped me find my smile again.”
So each week since the 22nd week mark, the Boonsoms have found fun and creative ways to sprinkle Disney magic into their baby bump photos. The couple documents their baby’s growth by taking weekly photos of Jenn and her adorable baby bump dressed in super cute, crafty, and clever Disney-themed ensembles. Another unique part of every photo is a little peanut plush toy that holds special meaning to the pair.
“We’re nicknamed ‘PB&J’ or ‘Peter Butter and Jelly Jenn,’” she explains, “so naturally, our little one has been called our little ‘Peanut.’ Peter hand made our little peanut plush to be our mascot while we were healing … [it] represents all the love and hope we have for our Baby PB&J on the way!”
These sweet parents haven’t wasted any time introducing their beloved rainbow baby to Disney. They’ve already taken several trips to the park during this pregnancy, including a recent and wonderful babymoon at Disneyland.
The couple says they can already tell their little peanut is a budding Disney enthusiast as he kicked up a storm during the It’s a Small World attraction!
While the couple is soaking up every moment of this exciting time, they cannot wait until they finally get to meet their little miracle. “We can’t wait to see the world (and Disney) through his eyes,” says Jenn. “This little one has no idea just how much we love him already and he’s not even here yet.”
And that love truly shines through in their joyful baby bump photos inspired by “The Happiest Place On Earth.” Don’t miss the Boonsom’s continued bump updates, and of course, the much-anticipated arrival of their little Disney dude!
