Kate Hudson Shares Sister-in-Law’s “Secret” Recipe (Spoiler Alert: They’re Not Brownies)

Kate Hudson is no stranger to the kitchen. As she details in her 2015 book Pretty Happy, she’s super organized when it comes to eating healthy, and writes out a detailed list of ingredients before heading to the store each week and meal prepping on Sundays.

Her sister-in-law on the other hand? She throws a little caution to the wind.

Erinn Hudson, who’s married to Kate’s brother Oliver, recently shared a top-secret recipe she stumbled upon while cooking one night, and it was so good that Kate just had to share it with her own 7.6 million Instagram followers. And let’s just say … so far, everyone’s been loving it.

“I don’t usually post food stuff but I was inspired by my mom friends posting all their yummy healthy homemade recipes,” the caption explains. “So here it is … you’re welcome.”

The directions — which must be followed to the letter, mind you — are as follows:

  1. First take the pizza out of the box.
  2. Set the oven to 375.
  3. Pour a glass of wine.
  4. Place the pizza in the oven.
  5. DO NOT set timer.
  6. Sip your wine.
  7. Recommended cooking time is 12 to 14 minutes.
  8. I say wait a good hour to get this perfect deep dark brown color.
  9. Or wait until you’re [sic] hungry kids come and ask when the pizza will be ready …
  10. Drink more wine.

LOL. I feel you, Erinn! I mean, who among us hasn’t burnt a few frozen pizzas their day — while wrangling kids, running the laundry, or getting way too into a Real Housewives episode and just totally forgetting (I’m guilty as charged with that last one).

Since Hudson first shared the recipe on August 7, it’s been lighting up Instagram (for obvious reasons), with over 123K likes to date and more comments with cry-laugh emojis than I can count. And by the looks of things, it seems I wasn’t the only person who clicked on the recipe thinking it was some kind of delicious baked good.

I thought it was a double chocolate cookie!” wrote one user.

I thought it was a brownie cake and got excited,” wrote another.

Oh well — if you ask me, this was way better.
