Today, in the worst news ever, we learned that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are getting divorced after four years of marriage and how can this be happening? If the golden couple of country music can’t make things work, what love stories do we have left to believe in?
Shelton, 39, and Lambert, 31, met in 2006 and got married in a beautiful rustic ceremony in 2011. Over the course of their relationship, they’ve collaborated on several country songs and co-wrote the song “Over You” about Shelton’s late brother Richie, who died when Blake was only 14.
It’s breaking our hearts that this couple, who seemed so very much in love, are calling it quits.
“This is not the future we envisioned,” they said in a statement to the press. “It is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
And they’re exactly right — even though they’re celebrities, they’re also human beings. Their words are a sad reminder that even when you live in the limelight and deal with public scrutiny on a daily basis, going through a divorce is a painful, gut-wrenching experience.
No one gets married with the intentions of breaking up, and having to go through the semantics of untangling your legal and emotional bonds with someone you promised to spend the rest of your life with is hard. It’s just hard.
Our hearts go out to Blake and Miranda.More On
