Pelé Kicks off Mobile Gaming AppKacy Faulconer
Sporting legend Pelé kicked off his first mobile gaming app. (See what I did there? Pelé … kicking. Oh, writing is a joy.) Pelé: King of Football looks pretty fun if you’re into that sort of thing, and if you’re not, football = soccer.
Do you guys remember Pelé? It’s hard to explain what a cultural phenomenon he was. I knew nothing about soccer, didn’t play, never watched it, didn’t have brothers who were into it, there was no Internet or YouTube and yet … I loved Pelé.
I’m not sure how I even knew who he was. Maybe it was his catchy name or signature bicycle kicks. When I saw him in Victory, I was totally amazed. Watch the clip above to feel that same amazement. He’s playing with broken ribs, guys. He does that bicycle kick to win his freedom. They’re prisoners of war! It’s so beautiful — beautiful enough to move the Fuhrer to his feet! You know how immovable and unfeeling the Fuhrer is. I love this. I want to buy the app of Pelé.
He says, “This is an entertaining new way to connect with my fans, especially the younger generation of football fans who never got to see me play. I look forward to sharing my life and career experiences in an interactive way with users of this app, and meeting some lucky winners one day.” Cool as ever, Pelé.
