Pineapple Christmas Trees Are Apparently a Thing, and They’re Actually Kind of Awesome

Well folks, it appears we have officially gone off the rails when it comes to alternative Christmas decor, and honestly … I’m not mad about it.

Last year, it was the half-Christmas tree trend that made headlines:

And just last month, the upside-down Christmas tree became all the rage:

But it’s apparently not the only alternative Christmas tree trend in town this year. Behold, the pineapple Christmas tree — a festive alternative for people who want to save a buck (or $50), and can no longer be bothered with wrangling a giant fir tree into their house or spending weeks vacuuming pine needles off their living room floor.

I’ll admit, this one gave me pause at first. I mean, a pineapple tree? THAT’S AN INSULT TO CHRISTMAS! But honestly, the more I scroll through Instagram, the more I have to admit that it’s kind of genius. I mean, how adorable does this one look — with sunglasses, no less?

You can still wrap it up in your best tinsel or hang a (very short) string of lights around it …

Along with whatever remaining ornaments your kid has yet to destroy …

It also provides some pretty good material for your Elf on the Shelf ideas:

But best of all is the price, though: A good pineapple will run you, what, $5, max? That’s a pretty nice bit of savings when you compare it to the cost of a live tree, or even a decent fake one.

Plus, they’re super festive!

And kind of cute!

(Have I converted you yet?)
