Reese Witherspoon’s Son Proves You Can’t Sneak Anything Past a 4-Year-Old

Take a hint from Reese Witherspoon: you can’t sneak anything past your little ones. However you choose to unwind — say with a glass of wine, like Witherspoon — they probably know about it.

Witherspoon recently appeared on The Ellen Show, where she was asked about her Mother’s Day brunch with her three children, Ava, 17, Deacon, 13, and Tennessee, 4. They gave her a special picture they’d taken of the three of them.

Afterward, Ava said that she asked 4-year-old Tennessee where he thought they should take the picture. He answered, “The bar,” to which Ava asked, “Why?”

“Because Mom likes wine,” he said.

Hard to deny that one. “Mothering, am I right?” Witherspoon quipped.

Along the lines of mothering, DeGeneres pulled out a fidget spinner as a humorous gift, and Witherspoon immediately recognized it as one of her son’s favorite toys. “If you bring this to a dinner table, this is like a magical thing. It’s mesmerizing,” she said.

But Witherspoon’s cutest story was about her own mom — who recently went to the Apple Store to get her computer worked on. When asked by the sales associate if she had any storage left on her machine, she said her mother sarcastically replied (mimicked by Witherspoon in a deep Southern accent), “Don’t worry. I keep all my nude selfies in the cloud.”

Talk about openness! Between Witherspoon’s love of wine and her mom’s quick wit, these are two ladies we definitely want to hang with.
