It’s the weekend, people — and to celebrate, I thought I’d honour all things British and all things, well, men. Some of these fellas you may well be familiar with, and others I am quite happy to introduce you to. Banish all thoughts of pasty lardy British men: socks with sandals, red sunburn, and tied hankies on heads. That image is now obsolete. Instead, feast on the eye candy from my side of the pond. Pretty hot eh?
Which one is your favourite? Do you agree with my No. 01?
You can thank me later!
20. Daniel Craig 1 of 20
Mr James Bond himself! The star of Skyfall is going to team up with director Sam Mendes for the next Bond installment. Reserved, classy and very very dry, Daniel is like the perfect Bond martini...
19. Jude Law 2 of 20
In an old diary, I had a picture stuck in of Jude Law in 1996. Back then, he was, according to my scribbles 'the most handsome man in the world.' Now, although he has aged a tad, the star of The Talented Mr Ripley and Sherlock Holmes still has a twinkle in his blue eyes.
18. Dan Stevens 3 of 20
Where would Downton be without Matthew Crawley? This dashing Brit studied at prestigious Cambridge University, so has brains and beauty. His latest movie Summer in February has just been out in the UK, and has been described as a 'gem.'
17. Orlando Bloom 4 of 20
Daddy of one, Orlando Bloom became famous in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and wearing pixie ears in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Now married to Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr, he has reprised his Legolas role for The Hobbit movies.
16. Aaron Johnson 5 of 20
Maybe this is controversial, putting Aaron in this list - what with him being 23 and all. But director and artist Sam Taylor Wood (pictured) certainly wasn't bothered by his age. She married him aged 45, when he was just 22. They have two daughters together: Wylda (3) and Romy (1). Aaron starred in Savages with Taylor Kitsch and Blake Lively, and Nowhere Boy - the story of John Lennon.
15. Henry Cavill 6 of 20
Newly single Henry Cavill, aged 30, is best known for playing Superman in this summer's blockbuster Man of Steel. Previously, he starred in The Tudors and tragically had to take his shirt off rather a lot. One to watch. and boy, do we like watching!
14. Mark Ronson 7 of 20
Uber cool DJ, musician, and producer, Mark Ronson has worked with the likes of Adele and Lily Allen. He produced the late great Amy Winehouse's album Back in Black and went on to win a Brit award. He is best mates with Sean Lennon, and his step-dad is Mick Jones from the band Foreigner. He hails from London but grew up in New York. He can spin my decks any time...
13. Michael Fassbender 8 of 20
Ok, Ok, I know. Technically Michael Fassbender is of Irish stock, and yes he was born in Germany, but he simply HAD to be in this list. Not because of all he unveiled in the film Shame, but because he is so darn sexy. I'm not attracted to ginger haired men as a rule, but Fassbender is my exception. Soon to be seen in the latest X Men film and the sequel to Prometheus, he is the hottest Irish/German man living in London, on the block!
12. Jenson Button 9 of 20
Jenson Button is a Formula One driver from McLaren. He is also the 2009 Formula One World Champion, driving for Brawn GP. Dashing behind the wheel, and even more dashing out of the car, Button is renowned as one of the most stylish sportsmen in Britain. Hot!
11. Idris Elba 10 of 20
I know you Yanks don't get to watch BBC's Luther, which is a crying shame for you all, as it stars this hunk. His screen presence rivals those of the Hollywood greats. He is just so WATCHABLE. You can catch him the the up-coming Mandela biopic: Mandela: Long walk to Freedom, and Thor: The Dark World. Miss them at your peril!
10. Robert Pattinson 11 of 20
The cause of a million teenage swoons and perhaps the most famous vampire of all, Robert Pattinson had no idea just how famous he would become when he signed on to play Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies. His off-screen romance with Kristen Stewart mirrored their on-screen love story (without all the vampire-y bits obvs.). Rumoured now to be single, will his already huge star continue to rise? And where will we be without our beloved Edward?
9. David Beckham 12 of 20
Mr Posh Spice is one of the most successful footballers in the UK, having played professionally for 20 years and captained the England team for 6. He recently retired from the beautiful game and is a doting Dad to his four kids: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and daughter Harper. Beckham is renowned for both his flair on the pitch, and his fashion sense off it.
8. Jim Sturgess 13 of 20
I first spotted this handsome actor in a bizarre musical film called Across the Universe, featuring Beatles' hits. He then starred in 50 Dead Men Walking (amazing book, shame about the movie), and then One Day (amazing book, shame about the film). You may not have heard of him, but I promise you he is as talented as he is handsome...
7. Alex Pettyfer 14 of 20
Pettyfer first rose to fame when he acted as a teen spy in the movie Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, but is probably best known for taking off his shirt (praise the lord!) in Magic Mike. His ex's include Dianna Agron from Glee, Emma Roberts, and Elvis's granddaughter Riley Keough.
6. Andrew Garfield 15 of 20
I first spotted Garfield in a tiny, one-off drama on UK TV called Boy A. I thought he was brilliant. So did BAFTA as he won a best actor award for this very role. Now a worldwide star due his role as Spiderman opposite real life girlfriend Emma Stone, he has just wrapped The Amazing Spiderman 2.
5. Gerard Butler 16 of 20
The handsome Scot first came to fame in the epic 300, and then branched into romantic comedies such as The Ugly truth and The Bounty Hunter. The eternally single Butler now lives in L.A. At 44, he shows no signs of slowing down, with several films due out in the next year.
4. Jamie Dornan 17 of 20
Hailing from my neck of the woods, Jamie Dornan was perhaps best known for dating Keira Knightly. Jamie, however, is now a fully fledged actor and recently played the sexiest serial killer ever to hit our TV screens, in the The Fall with Gillian Anderson. He recently got hitched to former actress Amelia Warner, and they are expecting their first child. Congrats Jamie!
3. Tom Hardy 18 of 20
Rarely does Tom Hardy step into the public eye. He prefers to stay under the radar, instead churning out amazing performances in The Dark Knight Rises (that voice!! That mask!!), Inception, and Bronson. (He was also a charmer in Reese Witherspoon rom-com This Means War.) Catch him soon in the highly anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road.
2. Ed Westwick 19 of 20
The sexiest voice ever to come out of Stevenage, Ed Westwick is best known for his role on teen drama Gossip Girl, where he played Chuck Bass for 5 years. The series has now ended, but thankfully we'll be seeing Ed soon when he plays Tybalt in the latest screen version of Romeo and Juliet, and hearing those dulcet tones again. Hurrah!
1. Jonathan Rhys Meyers 20 of 20
Perhaps my favourite of all, Rhys Meyers is best known for The Tudors, but has been on our screens since 1998 when he starred in Velvet Goldmine. I know he is Irish, but so am I, so I had to include him in my list. Those lips! Those eyes! He is playing Dracula in the new TV series of the same name. Bite me Jonathan! No, me!
