Every time you think it’s not quite possible to love Ryan Reynolds any more, he goes and does something that makes your celeb crush that much bigger.
Case in point: the actor is the latest subject of a viral Humans of New York post, in which he gushes about his wife Blake Lively, her incredible empathy, and how she’s changed the way he looks at the world, even during some of his most difficult moments.
“She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were 5 or 6 years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person,” the actor shared. “I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times.”
Reynolds shared those heartfelt words Monday night, while attending the annual Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. But this isn’t the first time the actor has made the Internet swoon while talking about his wife.
While getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year, he took a moment to thank her in his speech:
“You are the best thing that has ever happened to me — second only to this star,” Reynolds quipped. “You make everything better, absolutely everything in my life better. You’ve made me the father of my dreams when I thought I only had fun-uncle potential.”
And if that’s not enough to make your ovaries explode, how about the time Jimmy Fallon asked Reynolds about fatherhood, and he dropped this little love bomb:
“It’s amazing. I’m not one for vomiting declarations of sentiment out across the airwaves, but when we had that baby, I fell more in love with my wife than I’d ever been in my entire life. I couldn’t even believe it.”
Last year, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio, Reynolds even reminisced about the couple’s first date — which was pretty awkward, considering it was a double date with other people.
“That was like the most awkward date for the respective parties,” Reynolds shared, “because we were just like fireworks coming across [the table].”
The couple later wed in September 2012, and have since welcomed two daughters, James, 2, and Ines, 8 months.
But to be fair, Reynolds isn’t the only romantic in this relationship; Lively has said some pretty sweet things about her husband, too. Like the time she opened up to Marie Claire about the real reason she married him (which apparently had nothing to do with his gorgeous face or washboard abs):
“I knew he would always be my best friend for my whole life. That was the biggest thing for me. I’d never known anything like the friendship that I had with him. I could like him as much as I loved him.”
Are these two the epitome of #CoupleGoals, or what?
