The increasingly-popular Mannequin Challenge has been sweeping the Internet for the past few weeks — and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. If you’re not already familiar with the viral craze, it basically goes a little something like this: A fun song plays in the background while a group of people all stand still, appearing to have “frozen” in time, mid-movement. Meanwhile, a cameraman makes his or her way around the room, capturing the scene on film.
Yes, it’s really that simple; but it’s also oddly mesmerizing. And if you haven’t already been sucked into wasting hours on YouTube watching them all, well … you’re a stronger person than I am.
There have been some epic videos made so far by pretty much everyone out there — from the entire Late Late Show with James Corden studio to a group of 4-year-olds in preschool. But the latest group to join in — the cast of Sesame Street — is definitely one of my favorites so far.
I’m sure it was super hard for Elmo to stand still throughout the whole take, though (after all, we all know how excited he gets about pretty much everything); and if you look closely, he even has a cup balancing on his head! I’m also extremely impressed with the way Snuffleupagus keeps his poise throughout the whole clip — he’s a big guy!
But here’s what’s most pressing on my mind about this clip: Where can I download this remixed version of the Sesame Street theme song? I’ve watched this video again and again simply to hear the hip-hop version of this classic.
I won’t reveal any more spoilers, but I will say this: Keep an eye out at the end for Bert and Ernie. They are certainly up to their usual antics — and it’s bound to make you smile.More On
