The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began their much-anticipated week-long tour of India yesterday, and boy have they hit the ground running.
From Mumbai to New Delhi, the royal couple have had a packed schedule of social engagements. And all the while, “Princess Kate,” (yes, she is technically a princess) has looked amazing and won over hearts aplenty, as she tends to do.
But at a party celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday in Delhi, the Duchess of Cambridge fielded questions from fellow guests — and a couple of them were well, a little cringeworthy.
Professor Bulbul Dhar-James relayed her group conversation with Kate to PEOPLE magazine, saying: “We said, ‘How do you lose all the weight after having two kids?'”
And her response? “I am running after my kids!”
While we know that can’t be all that goes into her weight loss (a private chef and personal trainer have got to help the process along) I do applaud Kate’s easy reply in the face of a rather personal and intrusive question. I mean, yes we’re all wondering but still — talk about putting a woman on the spot!
The professor then went on to ask Kate how she remained upbeat throughout the trip, saying, “I asked her, ‘Aren’t you tired of smiling?’ And she said, ‘I’m just reciprocating. Everyone is so warm.'”
In the professor’s defense, I’m not quite sure what I would say to HRH if I ever got the chance to be in her presence, either. Knowing my history of verbal diarrhea in inappropriate situations, I can only hope I would keep it together. But considering I once screamed, “IT’S BILL RANCIC! OH MY GOD IT’S BILL RANCIC!” at full volume in Times Square — much to his shock and my sister’s mortification — the odds are not in my favor.More On
