When the Rice family dog recently passed away, they were understandably devastated. And as Natalie Rice later shared on Twitter, she wanted to cheer her mom up however she could. That’s how she got the idea to surprise her with an early Valentine’s Day present over the weekend: a blue heeler puppy. Turns out though, her mom had the same idea. Like, to a T.
On February 3, Natalie took to Twitter to share a video of herself surprising her mom with the dog. In it, she stands in one room holding the puppy, and her mom enters holding an almost identical-looking puppy of her own.
That’s right, people: THEY SURPRISED EACH OTHER WITH PUPPIES AT THE SAME EXACT TIME!
my dog passed away so i thought it'd be a good idea to surprise my mom with a blue heeler puppy, she thought it'd be a good idea to surprise me with a lab puppy.. long story short my dad is going to kill us.. "oh my god we're in so much trouble" pic.twitter.com/4cHQWltmUR

“My dog passed away so I thought it’d be a good idea to surprise my mom with a blue heeler puppy ,” wrote Natalie. “She thought it’d be a good idea to surprise me with a lab puppy … long story short my dad is going to kill us.”
The tweet has since gone viral, with over 223K likes and 64.5K retweets so far. And as Natalie later updated her followers, her dad did not in fact kill them (phew), and actually let them keep both puppies (yay!).
Truth be told, they actually seem to be best buds already:
And if that’s not an amazing end to this story, I don’t know what is.
