A big milestone was met last Friday; Kim Kardashian got her 20 millionth follower on Twitter.
To celebrate she tweeted the following message:
“OMG 20 MILLION FOLLOWERS! ARE U KIDDING ME!!!! THANK U SO MUCH!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!! XOXOX ALL I REALLY WANTED WAS 20MIL & A BAD B……”
Yes, she had ALL CAPS excitement over this, even giving a shout-out to her baby daddy Kanye West by quoting one of his songs.
She is still far off from the the most popular celebrity Twitter feeds (Justin Bieber has 50 million, Britney Spears has 36.3 million, and Justin Timberlake has 31.1 million), but twenty million is NOTHING to be ashamed of; it’s pretty epic. It’s double what Kanye West has (he’s currently at 10.3 million). But there is a theme with the four other celebrities I mentioned above; they are all entertainers with a specific talent. Kim Kardashian is famous for, well, being famous.
So why does Kim Kardashian have THAT many followers? I have a couple theories. One, she tweets both very personal and outrageous things — from racy photos for Kanye to dissing Katie Couric. You never know what she is going to say or do next. I’m sure that every time she tweets something newsworthy, her Twitter count has a big jump. Everyone loves to be “in the know” and instead of hearing about something Kim said on social media via traditional media, it’s easier to just get it directly from the source. Even if you aren’t a Kim Kardashian “fan,” it’s hard to avoid the temptation of following her anyways. The other reason is because Kim Kardashian does way cooler things than most. She hangs out with famous fashion designers, gets amazing duds for her daughter, and jet-sets all over the world. As an E! spokesperson said, people “aspire to be them or to befriend them.” Odds are not in our favor that we will have lives like theirs, befriend them, or even be in a one block radius of them, but watching from the sidelines sure can be entertaining.
Do you subscribe to Kim Kardashian’s twitter feed? If so, why?
