5 Clever Tips for Dusting in a JiffJacinda
I will gladly do the laundry, dishes, or put away toys before I have to dust the day away. I know it has to be done, but I dread dusting like no other. Since dust isn’t going away any time soon, I’ve found a few simple solutions that have made the process much less grueling.
1. Use a Fabric Softener Sheet
The next time you are doing the laundry, grab one of the fabric softener sheets to use for dusting, too. They work great in picking up dust off the television, computer, and blinds. I like to dust in doses, and since I’m doing laundry practically every day, this is an easy way to keep them dust-free in just a few seconds.
2. Use an Old Pillowcase
Ever had the feeling of finally relaxing on the couch, only to look up and see the dust bunnies clinging to your ceiling fan? There is a super quick and easy solution to get those off. Grab an old pillowcase and put it around the fan blade, then slowly pull it off and let the dust drop inside. I have used this method many times right before we have guests over.
3. Paint the Dust Off
Okay, you are not literally painting anything. When you need to dust a menagerie on your mantle or any other small objects with lots of nooks and crannies, get the edge of a fine bristle paint brush wet. You can run the paint brush back and forth to get all of those hard-to-reach spots. Makeup brushes also work well for this.
4. Start from the Top
When you start dusting, don’t forget to dust from the top, down. It will save you time and a headache. If you’re cleaning quickly, do a light dust and then suck up all the dust on the floor with a vacuum. Nobody will ever know the difference.
5. Use a Sock
A fast way to remove the dust from your blinds is by putting a chenille sock on your hand. Run your hand back and forth over the blinds quickly to immediately pick up the dust that’s been sitting.
