Best New Strollers: Spring 2012

While the official Babble Best Strollers 2012 testing is still underway, we have another seasonal update on the latest and greatest strollers hitting shelves this spring.

Here are the best brand-new single and double strollers to have on your radar:

  • Bugaboo Cameleon NEON Collection 1 of 12
    Bugaboo Cameleon NEON Collection

Bugaboo took their cult-classic favorite, The Cameleon, and gave it a trendy spring makeover.

Perfect for: Anyone who loves the 2012 neon trend. And, of course, anyone willing to spend over $1,000 on a new stroller.

Highlights: Neon is everywhere this year, and a little pop of neon makes this iconic stroller even more iconic for 2012. Especially considering the navy blue and fluorescent red combo is chic, not cheesy (a la 80s neon). See more photos of the Bugaboo Cameleon NEON Collection.

    Age/weight: 6 months - 40 lbs.

Will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom in May 2012, $1,059

  • UPPAbaby Vista 2012 2 of 12
    UPPAbaby Vista 2012

The stroller we all know and love, with a few upgrades.

Perfect for: Parents looking for the best value in the most versatile stroller.

Highlights: The Vista is still essentially the same, in that it grows from newborn up to multiple kids, but there are a few big changes: better tires (4-wheel suspension and sealed wheel bearings for a smoother ride), better recline (now reclining fully flat!), and better canopies (on both the stroller and the included bassinet). The biggest change is that the breezy bassinet now has a ventilated bassinet canopy and aerated mattress for air flow. Also, the 2012 Vista will come in new colors: orange, pink, and black!

Age/weight: Newborn (with included bassinet) to 50 lbs.

    Get it from Giggle, $700
  • Maclaren Object of Design: The Nautical Volo 3 of 12
Maclaren Object of Design: The Nautical Volo

Maclaren's newest Object of Design stroller has the perfect gender-neutral look for summer.

Perfect for: Anyone who loves the simplicity and classic design of a Maclaren Volo. Or anyone who is obsessed with stripes.

Highlights: This lightweight stroller (weighing in at 8.8 lbs.) is one of the most popular Maclaren strollers — especially for city dwellers — despite its lack of fancy features, like a recline option. To be honest, this pretty makeover makes it even better.

    Age/weight: 6 months - 55 lbs.

    Get it from Amazon, $145
  • Maclaren Globetrotter 4 of 12
    Maclaren Globetrotter

Maclaren is introducing something very special in 2012: Maclaren's Global Safety Standard, which strives to have all Maclaren strollers meet or exceed the highest safety standards in the world. Their new Globetrotter meets this standard.

Perfect for: Everyone who wishes their Volo had a recline.

Highlights: It reclines! Finally! The Globetrotter is the lightest Maclaren stroller that reclines, weighing in at 10.6 lbs. (The Globetrotter comes in scarlet, black, crown blue, prince blue, and festive fuchsia.)

    Age/weight: 6 months - 55 lbs.

They also upgraded it with four recline positions, a more upright seated position, and a bigger storage basket. And for anyone who uses a Britax infant car seat, their innovative "Click & Go" system allows parents to use the B-Ready as a travel system without any additional attachments.

  • Baby Jogger City Mini GT 9 of 12
    Baby Jogger City Mini GT

Perfect for: City dwellers. Or suburbanites. Or anyone who wants a really great stroller.

Highlights: The brand new GT model has all of the new upgrades of the City Mini 2012 — namely the deeper seat and better basket access — but with a few unique features: a new handbrake, comfier seat, and adjustable handlebar (yes!). But the biggest and most significant difference is the GT's foam-filled tires, which make the ride smoother and more efficient. And to top it off, the GT still has that genius one-handed fold that makes stroller-lovers weak at the knees.

    Age/weight: 6 months - 65 lbs.

Get it from Magic Beans, $349.99

That's right — the GT even comes in a double.

Perfect for: City Mini lovers with multiple kids. Or, again, anyone with multiple kids.

Highlights: The tires! The handbrake! The easy fold! The plush seats! (Did I mention the tires?) It's everything we love about the GT single in a side-by-side double. (Should be available in late April.)

    Age/weight: 6 months - 100 lbs. total capacity

Get it from Magic Beans, $579.99
  • Bloom Zen Stroller 11 of 12

We already mentioned the innovative Zen in our winter stroller round-up, but its release date was pushed back to the spring. So it's now finally available!

Perfect for: Parents who want an all-terrain stroller without buying a bigger car (and love them some sweet CMYK colors).

Highlights: All-terrain (25 lb.) stroller that folds up to a super-slim 9.8" with one hand, automatic headlights, SPF 40+ canopy, solar panels (!!!) that charge the Zen's AAA batteries, stain-resistant fabric (with a reversible seat cushion), and car seat adapters. The separately sold Yoga Newborn Nest serves as a stroller bassinet, mobile travel bed, and portable bouncer.

    Age/weight: 6 months - 44 lbs.

    Get it from Giggle, $799 - $1,040
  • Mamas & Papas Mylo 12 of 12
    Mamas & Papas Mylo

Mamas & Papas relaunched their UK-favorite, the Mylo, in March.

Highlights: Beyond the unique industrial look, the Mylo has a one-handed fold, plush fabrics, smooth maneuverability, multi-position recline, and a reversible seat. It can even be turned into a travel system with Graco, Maxi Cosi, and Peg Perego car seats.
