DIY Gem Soaps — the Perfect Hostess Gift!

This summer, make a friend a collection of beautiful gem soaps. Soaps are very simple to make and can be customized with different scents and colors. Today I’ll show you how to make them in the shapes of gems, but there are also plenty of different molds you can use to get the same great look. This project is super easy to do, which makes it a great summer activity for you and the kids.

What You'll Need:

-1/2 pound of glycerin
-gem soap mold
-soap, for color
-scented essential oils
1. Grab the Glycerin 2 of 5
Cut about 1/2 pound of glycerin into cubes.
2. Melt and Mix 3 of 5
Melt it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and then continue melting at 10-second intervals until completely melted. Add a couple of drops of soap, coloring until it reaches your desired color. This is also the time you can add in a scented oil to make it smell great.
3. Fill the Molds 4 of 5
Pour the soap into your molds.

If you want to attach two pieces to the molds, save a bit of glycerin. Once the two pieces are dry, heat up the small amount of glycerin and pour it onto one of the sides. Sandwich the other side together and let them set to dry. Once you're done you can package them up to give as a gift!
