Popcorn is fun and cranberries can be pretty, but why not add a little pizazz to your garland this year? This DIY Glitter-Dipped Feather Garland can be done with your kiddos or by yourself in the time that it takes to catch up on your favorite show. It’s a whimsical winter wonderland equally perfect for your tree, mantle, or porch. And the touch of gold gives your decor that final magical touch.
Glitter-Dipped Feather Garland
- 30-40 white feathers
- White paint or glue
- Gold glitter
- Waxed thread
- Simply dip or brush the ends of each feather with white paint or glue, and while wet, press into a pile of glitter.
- Let the glue fully dry before you tie a singe knot around each feather’s quill, leaving about 1 1/2 inches in between feathers.
I found it helpful to create the knot and then slide the quill into the circle, and pull tight.
The waxed thread provides an extra grip so the quill doesn’t slip out.
Note: our tree is about 5 1/2′ so I opted for the smaller 6-8″ feathers, but feel free to experiment with smaller or larger feathers depending on your tree size.
String on your tree, but no need to pack it up with the rest of your Christmas decor — keep this festive garland around to ring in the new year or celebrate next year’s birthdays!
