Summer is here, and we have been spending a lot of time in our outdoor space. We love just hanging out on the back porch, eating dinner, and playing until the sun goes down. There is one problem though: Our backyard needs some serious work! It’s drab and boring and a little embarrassing to host any guests in. So I thought this summer would be the perfect time to do something about that. I want to change things up, add some color and fun elements — without breaking the bank. And we all know what that means, right? DIYs! There is so much you can do with a great DIY to help transform your outdoor space into something you can be proud of. And the best part is, you often don’t have to do very much at all! Sometimes all you need are two or three little projects that pack a lot of punch, and you’re done. I’m excited to get started! If you are looking to make your outdoor space like new, here are a couple of tips to consider:
Work with What You Have
Instead of buying new items to spruce up your backyard, try refurbishing what you already have. Add a new coat of paint to old chairs that are getting ragged and rusty, or add some outdoor fabric to that wood bench to make it a little more comfortable. This will save you a lot of money in the long run and will still transform your outdoor space to make you happy. You can even use supplies from around the house to make something new. For example, scraps of wood from another project or if you’re lucky enough to have a fireplace, some scraps from that! Those scraps can be used to make a little table or a new planter like this one. How great would that look in your backyard filled with pretty peonies?!
Bold decorating decisions go a very long way, and you only need a few of them to make a big impact. Going bold can mean a lot of things, too: You can paint with bright, over-the-top colors or do something different that you might not normally see in a backyard space like a giant chalkboard wall. Either of these little changes would make all the difference in your outdoor space!
