Beyond the baby essentials, new parents adore baby shower gifts that are geared towards their own interests. For instance, I’m a writer so the more books (including a book-theme baby shower), the better. Self-proclaimed geeks would love some adorably nerdy baby gifts. And if the new parents are musicians or all-around music lovers, translate that into a baby gift.
(And yes, that’s my little musician-in-training above.)
Of course babies are too young for a drum set or mini piano, but here are some baby shower gift ideas to encourage a budding musical baby from the get-go:
Lull the baby to sleep with a little rock and a little roll. This hand-crafted wooden mobile is available at Tiny Timber Kids.
How adorable is this Mixtape onesie, screen-printed by Heather of HeatherJeany? The baby will look back at baby photos and be all, “Ma — what’s that weird device on my shirt?”
For something a bit more modern, check out the onesies at Truly Sanctuary. There’s something for every taste and generation — which I appreciate, being such a young mom and all.
Help decorate the nursery with these musical prints from Barking Bird Art — which will most likely stay on the walls well past the infant stage. And then when the kid starts a band in 16 years, his or her baby nursery will be the first inspirational memory.
Not your average ABC book, M is for Metal schools children on rock history — along with the alphabet — in a bright, fun way.
Music-theme baby bedding is hard to come by, but I love the bright, retro vibe from these 100% cotton crib sheets from Aunt Bucky.
I adore this vinyl wall decal for a baby nursery/big kid room from Dabble Down. Not too babyish or genre-specific, it seems to fit in just about any music lover’s house.
Prefer the classics? This bib from Happy Babee and Beeyond features famous composers like Chopin, Bach and Mozart.
These musical prints from Laura George are fun and child-like, while still being sophisticated enough to hang in the living room.
