5 Ways My Kids Make the Best of a Rainy Day

I am a huge fan of the spring season. Even with all the rain and thunderstorms and soggy sidewalks, it’s my favorite time of year. I enjoy the quietness of the rain and the fresh air it brings with it.

It can be challenging when when you have children though. They like to be outside, but when it’s raining or¬†thunder-storming¬† sometimes it’s not the best decision for them to play outside. That can be a real downer for the kids, when they can’t go outside and run around, but my kids always seem to make the best of it.

    I don't know what attracts kids to puddles so much, but it really does. They love to splash in the puddles and love to wear their rubber boots.
  • Re-Watch Their Favorite Movies 3 of 6
    They usually love to run around, be loud and crazy. When the rain comes, they seem to calm them and they're happy to chill and watch movies.

    My kids love to use their umbrellas and when it rains, that means they get to break out their favorite spring accessory.
  • Count the Lightening 5 of 6
    You know that game where you count how many "mississippi's" are between the lightening and thunder to guess how far away the storm is? My kids love that game and the thunderstorms bring on the counting.
  • Flashlight Mystery 6 of 6
    When the thunderstorms come on, sometimes that means we're without power for a little bit. That doesn't bug the kids though -- that means they get to have a flashlight mystery party and pretend to be detectives.
