Look! It’s Mini-Me! Why Parents And Kids Dress Alike

I like to wear matching outfits with my boys. Granted, it’s usually to a sporting event where we fly the team colours, but I have been known to buy polo shirts, and t-shirts specifically to match my kids.

It’s cute when they’re infants and toddlers and kid aged, I’m sure it will be very tired if I’m in my 50s and still dressing like them when they have a rebellious teenage uniform. Still, parents of our generation are dressing more and more like the kids we raise.

Some say it’s our generation’s attitude of trying to be more friendly with our kids as the line between adult, youth, and child is ever increasingly blurred. (Did you hum Blurred Lines just now? Would your parents have hummed the song of the year when you were a teen?)

Still I think it’s just, well, cute. My boys’ eyes light up when I dress the same as them, they think it’s silly, and sets the mood for a fun day by loosening everyone up with a laugh. I don’t do it all the time, but when I do, it is all for fun. Here’s a look at some people who think it’s cute when parents and kids dress alike, and places that cater to those who want to dress like their kids.
