Boy Does Dr. Seuss' the Lorax Know How to Throw a Party

On Friday night I attended a cocktail/birthday/celebration party at Blissdom in honor of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax which will be in theaters THIS WEEK. (THIS WEEK! EEEEK!) on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Look, if we’re going to celebrate someone’s birthday, there’s really no one better than Dr. Seuss. Disliking him is like disliking warm sunshine or baby giggles, it’s just not possible. I’ve been tossing around ideas of how to celebrate his birthday with Addie and after the party on Friday night I’m both inspired and in awe of how magical it all was.

My best friend, who happens to be an interior designer, plotted ways to smuggle out the bigger than life truffula trees, while my other bestie commented on what a tasty cocktail The Lorax makes (not the actual Lorax, but a Lorax-inspired cocktail.) Everyone was in awe of the flower arrangements and all around were little cards that had seeds that could be planted once we were all back home. The Lorax also knew how to throw down with an amazing selection of music and a photobooth full of moms cutting loose and being silly in the spirit of Dr. Seuss himself.

It was indeed a very well executed party for a very anticipated movie, and don’t forget how easy it is to help plant a billion trees in the spirit of the movie as well.

A contest was held during the conference on twitter with the hashtag #loraxbliss which ended up winning a few lucky people some pretty sweet prizes (including an iPad2!)

The only thing missing from this party was cake (but don't worry, I plan on fixing that later this week with Addie!)

No one could resist getting a photo with the Lorax himself. Even I took a few and Addie's mind was *blown.*

If I were to ever throw a party it would have the mood that this one did. Colorful yet warm and lit from every angle. Perhaps that's just the photographer in me swooning, but it was a very lovely party.

Nothing says "take me seriously as a businesswoman" like a fluffy yellow mustache. Lots of women took to wearing them on their head like a bow, not sure if they realized they were there or not, but they were cute!

If I've learned one thing from the dozens of conferences I've gone to it's that Photobooths are probably the best investment a party thrower can make. So fun.

I brought a handful of these home so Addie can plant the little Truffula trees as the weather gets warmer and see what pops up!
