Top 12 Space Movies For Kids Not Called "Star Wars"

Well well well .. look who has joined the family. Disney has just written a big cheque to George Lucas for the Star Wars franchise and with it comes promises of new movies.

This past summer we had The Star Wars Moment, where my oldest (5) and I watched the original trilogy while camping. He’s hooked.

Actually both of my boys are really starting to take a deeper interest in space and watched with awe as Felix Baumgartner took his space leap last month.

Then there are the games:  Angry Birds Space is in high rotation on the iPad, and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Angry Birds Star Wars next week. Which brings it all full circle.  Still,  there is more than Luke and Leia to appease the need to head into the great unknown.

Here’s a list of 12 Top Space Movies For Kids.

There was talk it should have been nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Warning: my younger kids got a little scared by some of the conflict and destruction.
