I’m not really good at remembering to capture memories during the year, but around the holidays I try a little harder. I love looking back at Christmas past and reminisce of the days of old.

Sweet memories like when my 2 year old son was excited about opening up a box and could care less about the present. Or when he stood there mesmerized by the homemade snow globe. And my favorite is everyone in their Christmas pajamas staring up at the Christmas tree in awe.

So are you ready to make some memories?  Tis the season for holiday merry making!

My tips for your Christmas photos are:

  • Try to take as many photos as candid as possible.
  • Relax and enjoy the moment.
  • Even though candid is good, you can still set up the photograph and add props.
  • Make sure your camera is ready with battery fully loaded.
  • Don’t forget to pack the camera!
  • Making Memories with the Family! 1 of 9

Your memory making ideas don't have to be grand but make sure you stop to make them and enjoy them.  Here are some of our pictures from the past.

  • The Awe of Snow! 2 of 9

If it's possible to capture sheer delight with your camera, this photo definitely did that.

  • Christmas Carols! 3 of 9

Gather the family and play some Christmas carols!

  • Reenacting the Christmas Story 4 of 9

This is one of our favorite traditions and it's been even more delightful to have our friends all join in.

  • Playing with Christmas 5 of 9

Who needs Christmas toys when you have ribbon to play with?  Make sure to have your camera out and ready when you're at home so you can capture moments like these.

  • The joy in giving! 6 of 9

On Christmas morning we had the wonderful opportunity to feed some kids that came ringing our bell asking for food.  It was the perfect way to end our present opening time, with an opportunity to give to those who are less fortunate.

  • Gingerbread House Making with a Twist 7 of 9

Another tradition in our home is to make Gingerbread houses!  We did ours with a twist using rice cereal and chocolate instead. It was delicious!

  • Picking the Perfect Christmas Tree 8 of 9

We scoured the rows of trees and found the perfect one. Our boys are ready to do some chopping!

  • Christmas Lights Photo 9 of 9

My boys were so excited after we put up the tree that they ran upstairs, got their pj's on, and came down to read by the Christmas tree!
