Keep Your Cool! The 8 Best Summer Fabrics

Are you ready? The heat is coming! I think it’s about time I shared the best summer fabrics with you. Believe me, the right fabrics can make all the difference in the world!

Temperatures are definitely rising here in Los Angeles, and I can’t stand the heat. I really can’t! Unfortunately I can’t be at the beach and in my swimwear 24 hours a day, so I try to find the most lightweight and airy fabrics for my summer outfits. I recently bought a pair of linen pants, and I was shocked by how cool they kept me in 100+ degree weather. Seriously…it blew my mind!

When you go shopping, you might want to be on the lookout for fabrics that will not only keep you cool, but provide comfort as well. I’m a big fan of the bohemian look, so I might just wear jersey maxi dresses and skirts all summer long. That’s my idea of being chill and comfy chic!

I want to know what you like to wear!

What are your favorite summer fabrics?

In the meantime … check out 8 of the best summer fabrics.

1. Cotton

As one of the most common natural fiber fabrics out there, cotton will help you stay cool and chic this summer. The Banded Pocket Tank from Anthropologie is perfect for a hot sunny day.

2. Linen

Choose a lightweight linen to add to your wardrobe this summer. I already own a pair of pants similar to these Lauren Ralph Lauren Wide Leg Linen Pants (Plus). They will definitely keep you cool!

3. Rayon

Rayon is a man-made fabric, but it is light and comfy. I can already see a mama-to-be wearing this Maternity Printed Crepe Tube Dress from Old Navy (this crepe is made of rayon).

4. Silk

We’re back to a natural fiber with silk. Also considered a luxury material, this fabric is so amazingly soft and cool to the touch. This Ann Taylor Petite Silk Cami is perfect for summer!

5. Georgette

Georgette, similar to chiffon, is a another sheer and airy material you’re going to love on those hot days. This Gathered Georgette Dress from Forever 21 would be perfect for your next garden party.

6. Jersey

Another one of my favorite fabrics — jersey is a blended, lightweight, and stretchy material. It’s like it was made for dresses such as this sexy coral TART Maxi Dress!

7. Chambray

Think of chambray as an imitation denim, but a lot lighter in weight. This woven fabric is ideal when you’re craving a denim look. This Women’s Plus Old Navy Chambray Shirt Dress is so versatile!

8. Seersucker

Okay … truth is, seersucker is a type of cotton fabric, but I just love the woven pattern. These Calvin Klein’s Striped Seersucker City Shorts are a perfect match for your summer outfits.
