What to Pack for a Summer Beach Getaway!

Summer is only a few months away and the hubby and I already booked a little summer getaway. We rented a beach house in Destin, Florida (about an eight hour drive from Miami). It’s going to be our first family trip with our newborn son. I can’t wait! As you can imagine, I’ve already started thinking about what to pack. In case you’re planning a summer beach trip yourself, here are some of my summer getaway must-haves you won’t want to miss.

    The Swimsuit
No beach getaway would be complete without a bathing suit, of course. This summer, the retro trend and one-pieces are still all the rage. I love this one-piece from Target for just under $30. For a more vibrant look, you can also opt for this two-piece floral swimsuit from Marshalls.

    A Stylish Beach Bag
A stylish beach bag is always a must for me. This crochet bag from J.Crew or printed bag from Billabong are both big enough to hold all of your beach essentials, while still looking fab.

Don't forget your floppy hat or a trendy fedora. They're great for giving your face some extra protection from the sun.

    The Perfect Sandal
I just bought these Madewell sandals online and can't wait for them to arrive. They're the perfect neutral color and can easily go paired with shorts or a summer dress. Whether you're hanging at the beach or poolside, a pair of flip-flops are also a must-have.

How adorable is this towel from Pendleton?  It feels like it belongs on a beach somewhere in Mexico.

    Who Wears Short, Shorts?
Denim shorts are perfect for a summer getaway. You can dress them down with a tank top and flip-flops or dress them up with wedges and a blouse for a night out. You can also try these printed shorts from T.J. Maxx for a more chic, sophisticated look.

    A Good Book
While the kids are playing on the beach with the hubby, maybe now is the perfect time to catch up on that book you've been meaning to read. On my list is "Lean In" from Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg. So inspired by how she juggles being a mom, a wife and her career.
